Genesis of Pittsburgh Classes 

New Beginnings Classes offer a wide variety of topics that address different parenting skills. You can attend the entire series to learn more about positive relationship topics such as emotional well-being, positive communication, and your child’s self-esteem.

Potty Training Classes show you how to train your child to use the toilet, including recognizing signs of readiness and handling setbacks. This class is held on the first floor of the Genesis Center

Child Care Financial Assistance:

 

To apply for child care subsidies in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, you can use the COMPASS website or contact your local Early Learning Resource Center (ELRC):

  • COMPASS

  • Apply online at www.compass.state.pa.us. You can also download and fill out the Pennsylvania application as a PDF and submit it to your ELRC.

  • ELRC

  • You can call (800) 548-2741 to request an application, or you can print and complete an application and return it to your local ELRC by mail, fax, or hand-delivery. You can find your ELRC at www.raiseyourstar.org.

Children are eligible for care from birth until the day before their 13th birthday, but children with disabilities may be eligible up to age 18. ELRCs can help families determine if they are eligible for Child Care Works.

Classes with Genesis of Pittsburgh

CPR Classes: Learn how to respond to cardiac and breathing emergencies in infants, children, and adults, including the use of automated external defibrillators (AED).

  • Infant CPR: Free to expectant parents

  • Adult, Child, and Infant CPR: Free to expectant parents

Nutrition Classes: Six-class series, which includes food safety, menu planning, shopping, and more. Each class includes food preparation and sampling
